Oof. // Inktober Mid-point + How to Knock Out Prompts

Knocking out Inktober Promts.png

Hello, Friends!

It almost makes me a weeeeee bit teary-eyed to think how RAPIDLY October is flying past, my favorite month of the year is going as fast as the rest of this year has been! Learning to savor the time we have right now is something I’ll probably work on for a long time in my life.

ANYWAY…

All that being said, I’ve been drawing using the Inktober prompts every day, and it’s been very tricky a lot of times. (I mean, how do you draw something using the prompt “Legend”? Hehe, it wasn’t my best Inktober day🤣)

The first day was “Ring” as the prompt, so my process was sketching out different things. I first sketched out a ring , then a girls with a ring on her finger, but I wasn’t feeling that. I remember racking my brain trying to think of another thing, and the I thought, “Oh! A ringing phone!”

It always helps me to create little thumbnails of what your ideas are and a smaller version of the drawing, just to see if you like it.

IMG_9910.JPG            IMG_9911

Jumping over to the fourth day was “Freeze” as the prompt. I automatically thought of Frozen, to over on the left I drew a lady with ice powers (I wonder if she’s warm or cold blooded?😂), but I didn’t love that idea. Freeze tag! What else? (: That’s what I stuck with and I quite enjoyed the process of day four.

IMG_9912

Now day seven is probably one of my favorite drawings. I used calligraphy ink this day, where the prompt was “Enchanting,” so it was a new challenge. I decided my version of enchanting would be someone who was sweet and beautiful, so along came this character. I really like the different shades and contrasts you can get using ink, and it does really well with lettering (like where I wrote “Inktober 2019” over there).

IMG_9913

Day eight makes me laugh all the time, because the skinny girl with the bored expression is the same face I make. XD. (ALSO: Ignore the girl to the right, she was a random sketch I don’t like🤣) Stripes on sleeves are the BEST to draw and paint, because the torso part go across and the sleeves are slanted. SO GREAT! I love figuring out how to draw 2D/3D.

IMG_9915

Day ten, “Pattern,” was a fun one. The girl I painted has a plaid shirt, polka dot undershirt, and striped paints. Heehee! New fashion choices always puzzle me. 🤣

I painted in the ink with water different patterns and I thought I would make it interesting(:

IMG_9919

Day 14 was a lot of fun, especially elongating people. The prompt was “Overgrown,” so that’s what I did! I added a lot of random sketches, too.

*Small Note*

I do believe the illo sketchbooks are quite possibly my favorite sketchbooks I’ve used and I love the spiral-less, lay-flat-ness, high quality of these.

*End of Small Note*

img_9920.jpg

If you will, excuse the poor quality of this drawing. (:

The prompt today was “Ornament,” so I drew a girl/lady hanging one on her tree for Christmas. Blec. Hehe!

I’ve been drawing people to try and stretch that muscle for this month. Whew! It’s been tricky, but I’ve been enjoying it.

By the way, hands, feet and mouths are very tricky for me. I don’t know why, because I have all of those things! Anyway, that’s today’s drawing.

img_9922.jpg

Well, I hope you enjoyed seeing that peek at a few of my Inktober drawings for this year. It has been really fun so far!

Stay tuned for another post soon!

OCTOBER!! INKTOBER! AUTUMN!

*cough, choke*

Let me calm myself…

Greetings!  Today I have photographed my October bullet journal setup, and I though you might enjoy.

I really like fall (like I said HERE.. And here.. and here…), so I had to incorporate that someplace, and leaves sprung up. Originally, I was thinking about a pumpkin, but leaves are just so… fun!

I kept it fairly simple, using my Tombow dual-brush pens and a micron and a Tombow Fudenosuke. I sketched it out, then I picked some “fallish” colors. I kept the lineart fairly simple as well, like not going around the edges, but just the veins in the leaf.

On the right page, the one for my calendar, I did simple orange/gold rectangular boxes and brush lettering on top with the day. I like the overall appearance of these pages. They have a nice warm vibe.

IMG_9700.JPG

I had to stretch the 31st day onto the next page, so in the blanks next to it I put wash tape from Target. Below I really wanted to incorporate the Anne of Green Gables quote, “Aren’t you so glad we live in a world where there are Octobers?” so I thought that was the best place. Below I did goals, reminders and to-do’s in red boxes. I like to add this near the calendar so it will remind you not to procrastinate(:

On the right I did my regular habit tracker in micron, then the leaves. I wanted to keep this one simple as to not compete with the opposite page(:

IMG_9701.JPG

I made this little letter tracker page with a black micron and I used the same leaves. It’s always fun to have a repetitive theme for the month, like I’ve been doing since June (ish). They’re always fun to look back on!

On the right I have the inktober prompts written down so I can easily check them off. (Don’t forget to look back during the month for Inktober progress!) I used the same leaf colors to create a gradient with the words. I really like doing this(:

IMG_9703.JPG

And for the last pages I mainly just stayed the same. Black micron and leaves. The left is blog ideas for the month ( (: ), and to the right was just overall ideas I have.

IMG_9705.JPG

That’s a wrap, for now. I hope you all enjoyed this month’s setup, come back soon!

Here I Am! // Recents Doings

Well Hidey there!

It sure has been a few minutes! I’m back today with a chunk of photos and tidbits and different things. We went on vacation to Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and South Dakota, and it was also my first time on an airplane. All this provided a good bit of photography opportunities(:

I learned on our trip that different camera settings are very useful. A lot of times I would find myself raising aperture and lowering the ISO, then other times it would be completely different. It was fun to experiment!

Without further adieu…

                         Recent Letter Art

Fall has been sneaking up on me (with no help by the weather. It’s still in the 90’s), in the decor and art sense. I really really love autumn, so I took that into my letter art. Robert Frost, I’ve found, as I scrounged the poetry books on our shelves, that he has quite the Autumn poem selection. (Below)

That’s it for the photos for today. Which part did you like best? I’m so excited about Inktober this year. I will be posting the art I’ve done with the promt word given, so be sure to check back periodically for those! If you’ve never heard of Inktober, you should definitely look into it. It’s a fun way to stretch your creative muscles!

I hope you are all having a delightful day! Come back tomorrow for a peek at my Bullet Journal. (:

September BUJO Setup

Is it already September?.png

Happy September!

WAIT,

September? Whoa. Time’s ‘a flying’!

Today I have set up my bullet journal for the new month at hand, and I thought I would present it here(:

To start off, we’re going on a long trip out west, so I have a lot of packing lists and reminders and such, it’s not quite my normal, but thus said, we shall get on with this post.

I made this little botanical theme for this month, and I used this gold-colored yellow pen to outline everything. I made a little calendar under the month, and then I made the calendar boxes on the right. I decided to keep it pretty simple, using a fine point brush pen and just block letters with a micron.

IMG_8338.JPG

I had to stretch the remaining days to the next page, then I created a box for my goals for the month. I placed various washi tape in certain areas for a bit more pattern and color(:

The next page I made my habit trackers for the month in a green pen, and I used a coral colored tape.

IMG_8340.JPG

My month’s letter tracker was similar, I used the floral theme in the corner, and I used the gold/yellow pen. I rotated between that color and the green one in the next page.

My ‘to do’s’ for the month page is really simple, just boxes to check(:

IMG_8341.JPG

I made my September blog ideas with the same theme, and I made my list of things to do and places to see on our trip. (I have my packing lists in my August setup) I used the to do layout with the boxes, then I added this tape that says “Go where you feel most alive” and a cute little airplane cutout.

*brief note*

If y’all are looking for cute washi tape, Hobby Lobby is having a clearance sale on their brand “the paper studio.” Go check it out!

*end of brief note*

IMG_8342.JPG

My friend and I made this little page we called “self care” that have a lot of things to do for fun.

Then I have some reminders for the month.

IMG_8473.JPG

And that’s it!

What did you think of this months setup? What was your favorite page?

Have a wonderful day!

Are We Sure? Are we Certain? // A Devotion

IMG_0143

The Kingdom of heaven is always a puzzling matter.

How do we know if we’ll really go there?

We can be certain, on one condition: we must accept the Lord, Jesus Christ into our hearts and minds as our savior and Lord.

IMG_1267

Have you ever heard of the parable of the hidden treasure, or the parable of the pearl of great value? Well, the parables Jesus told say:

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found, covered up, and sold all he has to buy it.” (Matthew 13:44)

IMG_0426

And, “The kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all he had and buys it.” (Matthew 13:45-46)

The kingdom of heaven should be like that for us, that we leave all behind us, worldly things, and strive be in heaven with Jesus.

Jesus wants us with him.

Accepting the lord and leaving everything behind us to be with him is the way we CAN be certain.

A Collection // Letter Art and Other Things

Add a heading-11.png

This is a good day, isn’t it?

Summer is most assuredly here.

It’s proven in the sky. Well, um, the heat. It is rather hot. (:

Well, today is a day for art and things related! I have collected a few photos of letter art and some watercolorings and such. Let’s go, shall we?

I’ve been doing a lot of floral lately around the address and such.

I have a few questions about my one little yellow rose in the corner… XD

IMG_8151.jpg

I have been making a few envelopes lately and it’s fun to use different scrapbook paper. I  had this little “counting my blessings” sticker and I thought that would be a fun address sticker. (I’ve found it’s a tidbit difficult to write on this particular paper(: )

IMG_8156.JPGIMG_8155.JPG

A little collection of a letter. I like sticking with a color theme for letters. I always like collecting little things like bookmarks, cute notecards, stickers, quotes, paintings, it’s fun to fill a letter with doo-da’s(:

IMG_8126.JPG

Yellow has been a cheery color to me lately and I’ve been using it a lot. I like sunflowers a lot, so yellow + sunflowers, hmm? hmm? (:

IMG_8139

A friend of mine had a birthday, so I made her a card. I stuck pretty simple for this one, but I enjoyed how it came out. Do you watercolor?

IMG_8129

My friend Laura wondered if I would like to write three letters to some elderly people in an assisted living home, so I said yes! (: I made three different letters. Thanks, Laura! ‘Twas fun(:

IMG_8160.JPGIMG_8159.JPGIMG_8158.JPG

I’ve been cutting pages of multi-media paper in half and doing watercolor borders. It adds a little somthin’ somthin’ (:

IMG_8143.JPG

IMG_8144.JPG
Sorry about the strange lighting. O.o

You know something that’s a little (fun, but) difficult? Teeth and watercolor. It’s a little tricky to make it look like teeth! Over all, I like how she turned out.

IMG_8140.JPG

A tree.

A watercolor tree. (:

Trees are tricky! (alliteration)

IMG_8134.JPG

Quotes/verses on ATC’s are a fun thing to add in a letter. (Also fun to make!)

IMG_8123.JPG

This is one of my favorite verses, and I thought I’d try a large-scale painting.

IMG_8130.JPG

Someone asked me for a painting of a cake, so I made one(: Mm… now I want cake!

IMG_8080.JPG

We also went to a Atlanta Braves game, to which my camera was present. We had the next row down from the highest seats. O.o My stomach got a little knotted up, ’twas quite high(:

Bullet Journaling // Why It Works

Add a heading-10.png

Hello there! I hope everyone is having a great day!

I was filling out things in my bullet journal earlier and I was thinking, “What did I do before this!?”  Bullet journaling has worked well and has been really fun in the process, and today I’m just going to share some various tidbits about it and why it works so well.

To start off, there’s something I always haven’t been extremely faithful about remembering: The bullet key.

This is a very helpful way to remember the importance, time, if you completed something, if you need to save, if you need to buy, if you need to check off your list kinds of things.

I always put mine in the front of my bullet journal so that when I need to go look for it, it’s not hidden away in the middle someplace.

I stuck to some basic ones, like “task done” “task completed” “important” “good idea” and such. I’ve heard of other people doing a lot more things in order to help them remember.

If you’re just starting out with bullet journaling, or even if you’ve done it for awhile, this is still very helpful. The key, and the whole bullet journal as a matter of fact, is completely customizable to your own taste.

IMG_8084.JPG

Now, when I first started bullet journaling, I didn’t have something that I really like now, a content page/index.

My newest bullet journal, the one I’m in now, has one and it’s one of the most helpful things in it. (click HERE to see my Bullet Journal)

IMG_8087.JPG

Habit Trackers are probably my most helpful and favorite things in a bullet journal, because when they’re finished (especially if you didn’t miss a day) they look really neat, and they make you want to do that thing to be able to fill it in.

I’ve done all kinds; ones where you fill it in with certain colors, others its own separate box with a favorite black fineliner.

IMG_8088.JPG

IMG_8099.JPG

I really like to do a goals page. It’s always fun to see, at the end of the month, what goals you met.

Creating “TO-DO” lists for the month and cleaning plans are always great and very efficient and good to do ahead of time and to be able to add to later, because you can take a glance, go do something on your list, come back and check it off.

The main thing about a bullet journal that is so great is that it’s all in one. You get planner, calendar, to-do’s, goals, a journal (if you add that), in one book, and the good thing is that it’s only one book!

Hehe, I know I just said that twice, but that’s really the best thing about it. Instead of opening five different sources to check off or see various things, the all-in-one is so great. I prefer a A5 size journal because if you need to take it anywhere it isn’t too big.

Something else I prefer is a dotted grid. This is just me, but when I create a grid or calendar or do brush lettering, I don’t like doing it over back black lines. There are also square grids. I prefer a dotted grid that isn’t too noticeable, but it’s not just a blank piece of paper. (A grid really helps with lines and writing)

IMG_9347
You can see the dotted grid here.

I have a lot of pens I use when bullet journaling, but some of my favorites are my *Tombow Dual brush pens. These are water-based, brush and bullet nib pens that are great for writing, doing brush lettering, or coloring in certain things. They blend really well, too, which is something fun for your bullet journal’s look.

Some of my other favorites are my *Pigma Microns in black. Ah! I love these. They last long time and are great for writing and drawing grids.

I love to use a kneaded eraser and just a regular light pencil (like a 4H or 2H) to sketch out my designs. This is probably you have around your house!

And we can’t forget a good ‘ole ruler!

I hope this post was helpful and that you enjoyed it! Let me know what you would like to see next. More posts of the like?

Have a wonderful day!

August BUJO Setup

Add a heading-9.png

Hello!

IT’S AUGUST!? I’m baffled. Is it just me, or was it just March?

Well, today I have my bullet journal all setup for August! It was a fun one to make.

I’m really liking yellow and mustard and blush colors these days, so I wanted to include that somehow, so with the spaces around the calendar spot (those were on purpose😂), I decided to go BIG.

And Yellow.

IMG_8018.JPG

CITRUS! (Kind of funny because I’m pretty sure I’m allergic to oranges and lemons😂)

I’m mean, what better does yellow and orange go with than lemons and oranges? I stuck with just the yellowish colors and a black fine liner (Micron 01).

IMG_8023.JPG

I used the top part of the calendar boxes with the day in cursive, and I also used the colors I had and made little circles to put the dates in. It was a different spin on what I normally do. (A Little Bit of February Bullet JournalingApril is here! // April Bullet Journal SetupMarch 2019 BUJO SetupBetter Late Than Never//May BUJO SetupIt’s June // Bullet Journal Setup)

IMG_8024.JPG

Ummmm….. So, about this.. 🤣

I wanted to stick to this theme, so I tried to make the orange the habit tracker, but it backfired a little😂 It didn’t quite turn out as I thought, but to still worked out okay.

My habits this month are

• Drink 5+ cups of water daily

• Read my bible every day

•Clean my room every day

• My daily skin routine

•Play piano daily for 1+ hours

IMG_8025.JPG

This is my August letter tracker, which I stuck to the theme for. I will write the names in a yellow or orange so it’s a little colorful. For the tops of the pages where the things are labeled, I stuck to one design: A melon color Tombow brush pen (here) with the Tombow Fude soft o’er top (here). I’ve been doing this a lot lately. ’tis fun!

IMG_8027.JPG

Goals for the month. I’ve been doing this layout for awhile. It works quite nicely if you’re trying out new things!

IMG_8029.JPG

The TO-DO’s for the month.

IMG_8030.JPG

And the blog post ideas for the month. Don’t worry, I have some written down(:

IMG_8031.JPG

I’m doing the 31 day (bible) writing plan, to which I’m looking forward to.

IMG_8033.JPG

I added in a little wash tape collection so I could see what I’ve got. I put them in as if they were on a clothesline(:

I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing this August setup! What was your favorite part? Do you like lemons and oranges?

Have a great day!
