No Way. // August BUJO Setup

August

*slams door*

*stomps decidedly to the calendar*

*falls down triumphantly, and quite possibly dramatically*

*realizes I say this every time but..*

A.. AU… *splutters*

…..augggguusstttt?!!?!

Hold up, let me go look at the beginnings of my other posts…

JULY:

“Hi! How are you al– DID I JUST SAY JULY?! Umm, no. Surely not.

RIGHT?

Ahh, unless the automatically against my will pre-set calendar on this computer is deceiving me, it is, indeed, nearly July. (Approx. 6 hours and 55 minutes. *ahem*)

It can’t be stopped. Oh dearie me.”

JUNE:

“*HYPERVINTILATES*

WAHT.

Did I really just write “June” on the title of this post?

I’m just sitting here at my desk watching May drive out my driveway and some weird thing named June is roundin’ the corner. What. The “COVID Months” seem slow, but then at the end of the month I’m just.. flabbergasted.

To put it mildly.”

MAY:

“Hello!

Oh wait… I must’ve mean’t to write January in the title ’cause it sure don’t feel like May!

It’s crazy to think how fast everything’s going.”

APRIL:

“I CANNOT believe April (april!!) is almost here. I can practically touch it! You know what the means?? A quarter of 2020 is already gone. Poof! Like that. Man.”

I gueessss what I’m saying is I get more baffled every month. XD

I just, whoa, August?

I mean’t to start writing this post multiple days ago but alas, here it is August 01. At 6:52 p.m. (:

With August comes a new bullet journal setup, so I thought I would share with y’all!

Since this is technically the last month of Summer (I mean, school starts, Fall starts in September, etc…) I wanted to do a very bright and Summery theme. I chose popsicles in very highlighter-y colors and a very simple bubbley font. It’s fun to turn the pages that are so bright and colorful!

Untitled design

My next page has two very large popsicles that serve as my to do’s and goals categories.

The next page is my monthly habit tracker which fits with the theme of mini popsicles. Simple, but fun!

August-2

Then I have my first weekly log. I kept it fairly simple, using the same colors to highlight the words.

On the right I have my letter tracker for the month. Last month I used two pages for my letter tracker,  but I realized my usual setup works best. I didn’t really keep up with the “reply to” list. I’ve always made the little square in the corner to check off when I reply, so I thought I would stick to that. It’s what seems to work for me.

August-3

I have my next weekly log, which I just made very simple since the next page is so bold. I really enjoy this layout because I can really use all of my space and write out all I need.

The next page is my money tracker. I have little categories like expenses, total made, total saved, and the weekly amounts I make from my different jobs. Having multiple categories really helps me to see how much I make and how much I need to tithe and such. And, the categories are in the shape of popsicles! Does anyone know the popsicle on the left? It wasn’t really the colors I was using but my brother and I used to get one box of those red, white, and blue popsicles every Summer, so I had to throw it in.

IMG_2591

The next two pages are more trackers and grids and logs for school and music (mostly violin and piano). The first one is a school tracker/planner for each day. We don’t actually start school until September but my brother and I have a few classes starting next week, so I figured this would help out.

The next page is to record my music practice times and what I think I need to work on.

IMG_2592

I have my third weekly log here on the left, which is the same layout as the others.

Then I made another weekly log in a bit more of s grid format.

IMG_2593

Then I have another school log, which is the same layout.

On the next page I have the last of the school activity and the last of the music log.

Below that I have the last of the weekly log as well.

IMG_2594

To close out I have a quote that says “If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours” (Dolly Parton) and I used those same colors to brighten the page up.

On the right I have the “farewell August” page, which includes more popsicles(:

IMG_2595

I hope y’all enjoyed this month’s theme! What’d you think? Let me know in the comments!

Warm Memories // some thoughts

Can you picture it?

A night where the moon bursts out beneath magnificent streams of still clouds.

IMG_9389

A morning where the fresh cut grass sticks to your feet as you walk to the garden.

A night when you need a light jacket because of a hair-twirling breeze, but you have your bare feet out.

IMG_0122

A day when you eat a sandwich up in a tree for no reason.

A morning where the sun’s rays are so majestic you feel you must take a photo with a camera that has held many a memory card in its life.

IMG_9218

A night of warm weather sounds like frogs and cicadas calling to one another.

When you come in from being outside, not thinking you were sweaty from the heat, but a fan cooling your house is everything you didn’t know you needed.

IMG_0143

I like those moments. They are almost here. Though, it feels vaguely quite. Vaguely still.

There may not be the getting together with neighbors and grilling and playing soccer until the stars are brightly shining, or the amazing, juicy watermelon eating in a family reunion, but maybe the stillness holds something good, too.

This upcoming season will be a lot different. But maybe it will be special in itself.

IMG_9714

Though, strangely, it almost seems… okay right now. Is it a rest we needed?

If there’s one thing I’ve felt in this time we’re in, it’s calmness. I feel calm.

I know there’s strange stuff going on, and it’s very sad, but I think it might almost be a blessing we’re able to be in our homes. It gives us time to think. To be with God and strengthen our relationship with him.

IMG_0400

Sometimes life can be crazy. Sometime you feel like you could use a break.

Now is a perfect time. We’re in for awhile, why not make the best of it?

The warm nights of shining stars, bright moons, dewy grass and dandelions are still coming, but this Summer may be different.. maybe.

IMG_0125

I am thankful for technology (email, phone calls, etc.), and the mail (and blogging, of course!) to help us all stay connected.

We can still enjoy the warmth of the nearing season!

Have a wonderful day, and Happy Early Easter! He is risen!

Recent Letter Art… PART TWO!

Letter Art-3

Hello again!

I recently made a letter art post, though many more pictures have amassed in the good ole’ memory card, so I thought I would empty it until the next time! (which, I almost promise, won’t be a week from this one)

I hope you enjoy!

I love to theme my letters or make everything (inside and out) the same. This letter to my friend Bronwyn I kept the same, using the gold Tombow dual pen 026, and grey one, N89 and the bullet end of a back one to create a shadow effect and I also used the grey one for a border.

IMG_9908

I feel like keeping it cohesive and match-matchy makes letters really pretty and there are so many ways to change it up with the lettering and art and styles, so fun!

IMG_9906

I love creating wild, fun art on the envelopes. Though, if you’re using waterbased pens, be sure to seal it in something or else it will look like watercolor if it goes through rain–and you might not want that. XD

IMG_9646

Hehe. My friend’s name is IrisAnne, so I attempted to make the letters in her name different flowers. Failed attempt? XD

IMG_9647

I love using washi tape as borders, and lately I’ve been loving layering two tapes, or even three, for variety in color and shapes. It’s simple, but still fun!

IMG_9913

I layered this one as well. I love layering pattern on solid or vise versa. (Thanks to one of my pen pals for sending some silver washi tape. I love it!)

IMG_9917

For that letter I used a silver theme, with that same backdrop black shading as the first letter. OH! My brother got me some awesome pen+gear pastel envelopes for Christmas that have a sticky backs so that you don’t have to lick them. *ahhhhhhh* I DIDN’T KNOW THIS MAGIC WAS REAL. If you understand the mucho disgust in licking the envelope, you’ll love these.

IMG_9915

This one I just did a basic black font, but I went with a more script font than I normally use. I want to start adding more loops, but I don’t know, they scare me! (:

IMG_9918

I went very abstract and bright with this one. I wanted to include bunches of shapes. What do you think?

IMG_9663

This one’s pretty simple, another floral theme. This pen pal loves purple, so I tried to include that a good bit(:

IMG_9665

I experimented with a circular/abstract/mandala art in watercolor for this one. I really enjoyed the outcome! It was fun creating the shapes.

IMG_9670

I wanted to use a yellow envelope for this letter, so alongside the “sunny” (know where I’m going?XD) yellow, I drew a rather sketchy sun. I think it turned out pretty cute! I love yellow.

IMG_9657

I wrote my friend Sammi in French, so I addressed it (other than the actual address, I didn’t think the postman would be fluent. XD) in French, alongside a flower. I also use that same technique for a backdrop as before.

IMG_9902

I painted this pen pal’s name, but then I thought, “hmm… this needs some color.” VUA LA!   (is there an actual way to spell that?) Hehe. I just randomly placed oblong shapes in different colors everywhere.

IMG_9676

For the entering greeting in a letter like “Dear …” or “Hello, …” I like doing lettering and I usually close with lettering as well.

IMG_9675

This one I basically used my Tombow pen as a highlighter and lettered on top and added some random greenery. I did this to a lot of letters because I liked it, but I’l only show this one. It’s fun to do this in different colors. (:

IMG_9651

I love using bold washi tapes on the back with matching lettering. Ah, don’t you love washi tapes? ♥

IMG_9911

IMG_9914

(I use that washi tape combo a lot. XD)

IMG_9674

IMG_9650

Well, that’s all for now. I hope you enjoyed part two! I hope you’re all having a great day!
